Directions to Swim Center
Proceed north on U.S. 395 toward Reno, NV.
Route 1 - via U.S. 50 to State Route 28, then on SR 28 to SR 267
This shortest and quickest route utilizes main highways to the Lake Tahoe area and then takes you along the northeast shore through Incline Village and Kings Beach. Proceed on U.S. 395 about 133 miles to the junction with U.S. 50 just south of Carson City, NV. Turn left (west) on U.S. 50 for about 10 miles to the junction with SR 28.
Turn right (north) along the shore of Lake Tahoe through Incline Village to the junction with SR 267 on the west side of Kings Beach - about 28 miles. Turn right (north) on SR 267 and continue about 12 miles to Truckee.
Just after crossing the railroad tracks, turn left on Donner Pass Road. Proceed about 1.7 miles on Donner Pass Road, under the I-80 overpass to the Tahoe-Truckee High School ... and the pool behind the school. Distance: 174 miles; Driving time about 3 hours 20 minutes.
Route 2 - via State Route 89
This is a scenic route but takes longer to drive. Proceed on U.S. 395 about 95 miles to the junction with State Route 89 just south of Topaz Lake. Turn left (west) on SR 89 toward Markleville. Continue about 45 miles on this scenic highway to the junction with U.S. 50.
Turn right (east) on U.S. 50/SR 89 for 5 miles, then turn left (north) on SR 89 along the shore of Lake Tahoe and on to the junction with I-80 (about 40 miles). Proceed under the I-80 overpass a short distance to Donner Pass Road. Turn left (west) on Donner Pass Road and go about half a mile to the Tahoe-Truckee High School ... and the pool behind the school. Distance: 186 miles; Driving time about 4 hours 40 minutes.
Route 3 - via State Route 88 to State Route 89
This route involves less mountain driving than Route 2. It is slightly longer in distance but a little quicker in time. Proceed on U.S. 395 about 122 miles to the junction with State Route 88 just north of Minden, NV. Turn left (west and then south) on SR 88 for about 20 miles to the junction with SR 89 near Woffords. Turn right (north) on SR 89 and continue about 11 miles to the junction with U.S. 50.
Turn right (east) on U.S. 50/SR 89 for 5 miles, then turn left (north) on SR 89 along the shore of Lake Tahoe and on to the junction with I-80 (about 40 miles). Proceed under the I-80 overpass a short distance to Donner Pass Road. Turn left (west) on Donner Pass Road and go about half a mile to the Tahoe-Truckee High School ... and the pool behind the school. Distance: 199 miles; Driving time about 4 hours 25 minutes.
Route 4 - via I-80
This route is 27 miles longer in distance and 25 minutes longer in time than Route 1 but utilizes main highways/freeways. Driving time can depend on traffic in the Carson City/Reno area. Proceed on U.S. 395 about 166 miles to the junction with I-80 in Reno, NV. Take the I-80 off ramp west for Sacramento.
Proceed on I-80 about 32 miles PAST the junction with State Route 89 NORTH to the junction with State Route 89 SOUTH, just west of Truckee. Take off ramp 194 north toward Donner Pass Road.
At Donner Pass Road turn left (west) and go about half a mile to the Tahoe-Truckee High School ... and the pool behind the school. Distance: 201 miles; Driving time about 3 hours 45 minutes.
